It is clearly outlined in the New Naypic / Youth Parliament publication 'how to set up a Local group', the organizations view as to the type of local groups we wish to set up. The aim of the local group / constituency will be to be able to survive with out funding, through business. Each group will be self sufficient.
It will be your job to use your own Initiative as well as others to achieve this goal. Essential to this is the organizing of local volunteers, identifying permanent and committed volunteers. Organizing local meetings, the setting up of the local Management Committee in accordance with the Local Group pack. You will be involved in development of strategies and step by step guides so you can leave the young people to go for it and get on with it, using you then only as support from time to time. It will be a Get in, Set up, and Get out Support approach. You must also provide the Young people with all the information, knowledge links and guidance they need to do it for themselves.
On a National level, we would wish you to make links with organizations such as Central Council for Education and Training of Social Workers, Citizens Advice Services, Ocean Youth Club, a National Building Society, National Counseling organizations, the princes trust youth business section etc.
The links would be to establish a basis for implementing National activities in all local groups, such as a Consumer Training Week for Social Workers on the C.Q.S.W. Course. Sailing and water sport activities available to young people. Nationally, a deal with a National Building Society that they maybe give a £2,500,00 setting up donation to all local groups in return for our local groups banking with them. A Job Club in the Local Group. Advice on how best to set up our Counseling Services in the Local Groups. The child care panel solicitor's in the local area, the Princes Trust business development for the local area etc.
Obviously, these are only some examples of the National links we that will need to be made in order that the Local Groups have clear directions on what they are there to provide for the rights and opportunities for young people in and ex-care and youth in general.

A word of advice, plan carefully and strategically we don't want our National Local Groups worker over stretching themselves and setting up lots of groups with not enough support.
